Horse Stance (Ma Bu)
This basic pose strengthens core muscles in the abdomen, back and thighs. Holding this stance every day for 2 minutes aligns your spine and allows the internal energy (qi) to flow smoothly through it. It also improves blood circulation, tones up the kidneys and the prostate glands (in men).
Golden Rooster Stands On One Leg (Jin Ji Du Li)
In Chinese medicine, it is believed that disease stems from the imbalance in the internal organs so the body will lose balance. Practicing this stance brings back harmony to the internal organs by working on body balance first. Daily practice improves sleep quality, calms the mind and enhances memory. It is helpful in people with hypertension, diabetes and dementia.
Single Whip (Dan Bian)
Both arms are extended with the right hand forming a hook while the left palm face outwards. This pose increases blood circulation and stimulates the heart meridian. When blood circulation is increased, the lymphatic system and internal energy (qi) circulation will increase too.
